Prescription
Disposal Program
Soldotna Professional Pharmacy
in association with the National Community Pharmacist
Association began a “Dispose My Meds” program in the summer
of 2010. By providing patients with a safe and easy way to
dispose of unused medication, this program can prevent
expired or unused drugs from being mis-used or abused.
Recent studies have shown an alarming incidence of drugs and
other pharmaceuticals in our aquatic resources – many of
which have been flushed down the toilet. The “Dispose My
Meds” program will help solve this problem by providing
environmentally safe disposal methods.
There
are some restrictions on what medications can be returned
for disposal. Controlled medications, liquids over 4 ounces,
and sharps are some items that we can not take back. Give us
a call at 262-3800 if you have any questions.
Controlled
narcotic medications can be brought to the Soldotna Police
Department and placed in their drop box located in the
lobby. |
